Tire store messes up again

Long story

About 4 years ago i took my cutlass after getting painted to Big 10 tires to get fresh white walls put on it. When i pulled out of the parking lot the wheel fell off causing damage to the front end. There first offer was $200. They ended up settling for $3500 in the end.

Well today i decided i would take my car to them to have oil changed and a couple other things done. The following is the complaint i just sent them.

I took my 2005 Monte Carlo in today at about 12:00 p.m. to have an oil change, a stud replaced on the front right side of the car, and the alignment check . I had purchased an lifetime alignment service about 2 years ago. I had asked them to call me when the car was done.

I got a phone call about 2:00 p.m. from them saying that it needed to be aligned again, but the lifetime alignment would not cover it because it had aftermarket rims on it and it would cost an extra $89. The rims were on the car at the time of purchase and was not told that it would not cover it or i would not have purchased the lifetime service. I turn down the extra service at this time.

They never did call me back so I drove back up there at 5:30 p.m. to get my car before they closed for the day and of course it was just sitting in the parking lot

When I got in the car and tried to start it, the starter was dragging like the battery was dead. It cranked up though, but the security light was on and the oil change light had not been reset. I asked the manager why the security light was on and he said they had nothing to do with that. I told him it was not on when i drop the car off

I noticed when going down the street that the radio had been reset and the disc that was in the radio was sitting in the front seat. I tried to turn on the radio and none of my speakers were working. When i got home and looked at it i found two fuses that were blown and a wire that was melted going to the fuse block. This is an indication that battery died and some one had jump started my car.

It also appears that they probably locked my keys in the car when the battery died, causing them to have break into the car (setting off the security light). You can tell that the top of the door frame has been pulled away so a coat hanger or some other device could be used to open the door. there are numerous scratches on the inside of the door jam and around the inside door handle that were not there before it was left in there care

I then went to check to make sure they replaced the stud. They did replace the stud but did not put a lug nut on the stud. To me this is a safety issue. I paid over $50 for someone to half do the work.

I am very unhappy with this location and will be taking it up with district manager in the morning. This is not first incident i have had with this location. I refuse to go back to your company for any services you may offer. I will also be filing another complaint with the BBB in the morning.

Most likely they just locked the keys in the car and when they opened the car the anti theft kicked in and would not let the car start (acting like a dead battery) they go to jump you car that doesn’t need a jump voltage spiked you electrical system, that's what makes sense to me. What would scare me is that they fried your stereo fuse and melted the wire. I would be censured that if it happened to the stereo then what ells got hot and started to melt. this could potentially lead to electrical problems down the road. If you start to notice silly things for example when you open the door and the bell dings like the keys are still in the ignition/head lamps are on but they are not, then I would be very concerned. Electrical issues could lead to a fire.

Re: Tire store messes up again

yo...you said cd was on seat...stereo fuses blown and a wire to fuse block, for stereo or car,had wire melted.
do you check ur odometer when you take it in for service?
sounds to me like a joyride was done and they turned ur stereo up to high and blew fuses, they dont blow fuses ,on just the system ,with a jump start.
did you get all ur system to work yet?
and a half-assed lug stud w/out a nut is super lame.
are these joints ran by stupid lil high school kids or ASE certified blokes?
you should be my neighbor, then i could make sure your stuff done right, except alighnment,i cant do that, but a good place here does for me.

Re: Tire store messes up again

I just got back from the stereo shop. Replaced both fuses and wire. One of the amps is still in protect mode. The guy at the shop said he propably put the battery charger on jump start and that what fried the wire the fuses and probably the amp.

I left and went to big 10 office and all the guy could tell me was they would not cover anything aftermarket on the car. I let him know that there was nothing wrong when i dropped it off and know i have burnt amp that was useless.

I believe what happen was when they put it on the alignment rack and turn the key on so they could turn the wheel it killed the battery with the amps being on. That is when they had to jump it.

All the dumbass manager could say was that the key was messed up and that is why the security light came on. My car does not have the chip in the key so could not be the problem. so now I am witing for them to call me back

come to think of it...if it was set on high amp/start on a big charger/starter unit...and voltage exceded 16 volts...say like 20...then it could have done the electrical damages to the system...if there are any computerized controls for the operation of the car, they may be damaged as well.
a car amp can survive a spike of 16 volts at a minimum time frame b4 any damage will accur, but a long time on a higher voltage will blow out the outputs on the amp, because they are not able to withstand switching at a too high of voltage, even with amp off,it is not good.
contact these guys thru there website and ask them what happens to a amp when this situation occurs:

they repair car amps and are good at it.
