Family first article.
Read this today about the Viking WR going home for the funeral of his g-ma. Took a huge hit for it and told'em it was worth it. Shows integrity by a big name athlete for a change. Very rare to see these days.
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Vikings fine WR for attending funeral |

Re: Family first article.
If I read the article right, they are not FINING him, they are docking his pay for work missed.
Bereavement leave is usually for Immediate family members, not many companies and I am using the Vikings as the company in this matter allow for grandparents. Now is you take his base salary as a salaried employee he probably should have been docked for missed work. It would be interesting to see the Sick leave and Bereavement leave from the Human resources for the Vikings. |

Re: Family first article.
yeah, but those guys arent hourly.....
its more of a contract....if it is not written in his contract about leave... death, sick, what have you... then it is a fine..... just like an injury......... the player is still paid on the contract..... not short, long term disability... like us ham and eggers.. |
