Dennis,,,there has been a few times,i have purchased new stuff from autozone,or advance auto and they have been bad straight out the box.......friend of mine is mechanic,and said its a common thing,,,,,could be your problem

My guess is the alt. take it back to the store and tell them to test it AutoZone and Kragen they both have a testing station for alternators

What about the cables and wires! Sounds like it is volt meter time?

When the car is at idle....12.44 volts......rev it up goes to 13.58 volts.....turn car off..and back on, click click click....

I just hate letting those guys touch my car. I have seen some stupid people working at autozone! One guy didnt know what a push rod was!
