What happened to RAP music?

I guess I have a very strong opinion. I've listened to rap forever all the old school from WHOdini, Flash, DMC all of them, Then rap exploded with NWA and all the east coast. I'm not going into the entire rap history. But I remember when rap was not on the radio! it actually had teeth and something to say, hard life, real shit. Since 2-pac died I think RAP is on the down spin. EMINem did his thing, but it is all so commercial! It's all Radio, it's all about shak'in ass and crap and talking about sex stuff refering it to candy or something. I blame NELLY or Atlanta stuff for his watered down rap and commercializing it. Don't get me wrong there is some good stuff if you look hard. Even SNOOP is completely different now. Since when would a rap star(NELLY) sing with a group like NSYNC or Justin TImberlake....COME ON! now everything is collaborated this person on that album and him over here and there. What ever happened to my RAP? I buy Latino Rap because it has a harder edge to it like rap used to be. It still has something to say. But the best rap out there is the underground rap. You have to look hard for it but it's still the way it used to be, it's not about Bling or what ever. They just want to be heard. Pick up a TECH N9NE album and start to remember the edge rap used to have on a new album. BRing back GETO BOYS, and get ICE cUBE out of crap movies like ARE we there yet? and back to the BOYZ in the HOOD. I miss 2-PAC wish you were still here to raise hell and keep it real. The world will never be the same. What do you think? What direction is RAP going? I'm going to write a college paper on this so tell me what you think?

Its just so commercialized nowadays. I guess Im going to have to get a "GRILL" to fit in. I used to listen to all that old stuff too...Remember the Fat Boys...lol....Ice Cube with no Vaseline...To be honest I prefer the older stuff, but now I sound like my parents wanting to listen to the oldies. I mean I guess you just have to go with the times and grow up...Look at it this way, when your about 50 and your driving around and cube come on you will be like shit thats a classic.....

Fat boys could eat all of the candy at the "CANDY SHOP" What the hell is with food in rap now too? Candy shop? Laffy taffy? Tootsie Roll? I think it's easier than talking about real issues like it was during the LA riots of the 90's. Public Enemy had something to say. I think people are afraid to go down like PAC or Biggie now days so they "SUGAR" coat it so they can stay safe. I have a hard time believeing a thug that shows up the next day on MTV cribs and his last album tells me about the hood. Build that mansion in South Central or something. I have a hard time with hearing about how tough life is with your Bently parked outside. Don't get me wrong they probably came from that back ground and life but ICE-T is a good example of how to play it right and still cash in with out selling out and I can still feel what he's talking about. Hell 2-pac wrote music from lock up, now that's got feel to it. Tell me someone NEW that has that feel to it? who?

I guess it's classic music for classic cars. It's funny as hell that my little bro listened to the NEW rap and I gave him some old stuff to listen too and now he's hooked on the OLD 90's stuff. He likes DJ QUIK, and the TOO SHORT, ICE CUBE predator, and ONYX. I'd like ya to censor that and put that on the radio for ya. Still Old school rap for an old school ride.

Hmm Lil Rob? I've seen him LRM and stuff and his albums around at stores. Never picked one up though but I'll check it out when I go to the store next. A couple to check out for a latino rap and I got to spend some time and got to know a little bit is UNEXPECTED ARRIVAL, he's outta Seattle. and another group called POTLUCK, they got this guy kinda like biggie and this little white jewish dude. They are pretty cool too.

yeah, i dont listen to much newer rap, never have, always been hoooked on the 90's shit. But even crunk music and hyphy shit can be cool with me if im out at a club or whatevers. You can all hate, but that shit gets any place crackin. My homies just went out to see Mac Mall and Joe Budden and some local artists and they said it was crackin, i shouldve gone, but whatevers. Anyway, Mr64, how do you know about Unexpected Arrival??? That's my friend Jeff's homey. Ever heard of No Clue? he's from Seattle too and he's about to blow up.

I met Unexpected Arrival during a Tech N9ne concert. He was there and his stuff was pretty good. Afterward he was just out kick'in it in the crowd and was trying to move some CD's. I talked to him for awhile and picked up a CD and figured what the hell. We kicked it at the club and the after party it was pretty cool. Don't know the Clue but I'll look in to it.
