Do speed chips really help?

I'm looking at this speed chip for my cavalier. Not that i think it will make it super fast just maybe increase the productivity of my engine. This car is kinda pissing me off cause it ticks all the time. Not a rod tick but just a constant ticking even after I get a tune up, oil change and all that good stuff. Any ideas?

Chips do help the performance but not a drastic change that you could feel

and pull your valve cover and make sure your rocking arms arent tapping the bottom of the valve cover...Does it make a tapping noise all the time?

Yeah it taps all the time except for about the first 100 miles after i get my oil changed. Then it'll start up again. Drives me nuts cause it sounds like i don't take care of my car but i'm trying just don't know what to do with it

Dont mean to scare you but my escort did the same thing before the motor blew. I change the oil and it would be fine for about a week , then it would start again . It mainly did it in first gear or when under a load ,but my transmission did not shift right either and put a bigger strain on the motor. How many miles are on it ?

you can afjust those rocking arms to not go so high to keep from hitting the valve cover if thats the problem...Not very tough to do

thanks for the ideas, now i'll just have to figure out where those rocking arms are. Sorry, i have no idea about the inside of my car yet. Trying to learn more now. I bought a book to figure out some stuff, but i'm an amature big time.
