got a problem with my cavy, can anyone help?

My 97 chevy cavalier is having some difficulty. Everytime i hit the breaks all my check engine, oil, battery lights come on and the hot cold gauge goes down to C and the light turns off for the gear that i'm in, when i hit the gas it comes back on. The engine still sounds the same but it is freaking me out. Someone said it was just a loose connection to my gauges i'm gonna try to do that first, just worried it's something worse.

Thats what it sounds like to me too, or something is shorting out in the dash. Frayed wire maybe?
