I don't think being commercialized is a bad thing. Hell, I paid for my site out of pocket until I started a little store, which paid for it for a while and then it closed and I went back to paying out of pocket. I enjoy operating the site and people enjoy using the site, so I had to figure out a way to continually support it finacially. Offering advertising space was the only way to go for me. I agree that the generic pop ups are a pain but if the site offers advertising space for related businesses, I think it is fine.

agreed on the 'pop ups'
Do yourself a favour and download an 'add stopper' software program off the net and nip them in the bud... Web washer works ok but there are loads of others. For what its worth, a club member brought LiL to my attention a long long time ago and after i read through some of the posts i was so glad i never posted there, he needed help with his Caddy so he stuck through all the crap, this was the first US forum that i posted on, someone posted a link on our own site so i just dropped by. I've only recently been posting on LiL to see if i could handle all the crap, i try to post relevant stuff but because of the time difference i lose track of the damn posts anyway lol..... i like it here.... wish there were more questions being asked though, i've learnt alot so far. ![]() |

I don't think its that bad.... it was once a site with 50 or so people. The side grew quickly and is currently the # 1 site...its not that hard to ignor a topic or post. infact there is very few people who talk shit. Alot of the shit talking are in the off topic and thats cool... The lowrider fourm, hydraulic fourm classifieds, post your ride, (and I guess with car audio fourm with its dictator moderator) are still the great fourms to vist and get help. Just think of this way... if we had dictator moderator like the one in the car audio fourm then the site would be boring... every now and then someone will post something funny and its a time when you just got to laugh....

where was this topic posted??? I use to respond to all the Cadillac questions over at layitlow... but as the site grew I got tired of reciving E-mail's yahoo IM, AOL IM, MSN messanger with quesions... I also notice there are alot of cadillac owners that can help so I decided to wait for someone else to respond to that question...

i dont think that there are that much idiots on layitlow. yes there are many in the off topic section of the websites forum, but i personally have never seen bullshitting or post whoring or hating in hydraulics, lowrider general, or stereo. occasionally there is hating in classifides, but besides taht i dont see too much hating in the forums that are supposed to be serious. now off topic has hating racism nasty topics funny shit and all of those stuff, but thats off topic, sure there are idiots on there but i think that off topic is there so thats will the bullshit will be posted, and thats why i dont think thats its a big deal unless the hating and bullshit makes it to lowrider general or hydraulics
then it becomes a problem and to rlowride i dont have a car and i am only 14 so it is not all kids |
