where can i learn to paint

i konw i can go to a junior college for paint and body for 2 years but that else can i do b/c know one around here paints for the hood you know the 1000 to 1500 paint job i love cars and wanted to start my own business tried of the 9 to 5 that makes 11000 to 13000 a year i want to do something i like and make money b/c you never know it may turn into a hydraulic business to cause i have a caddy with hydros and i no they make money cause that shit cost me but really i want to do something that i can pass on to my kids you can't pass that 9 to 5 to them so holla back with any tips

College would be the only sensible route, otherwise you'll need to start working at a body/paint shop either weekends or jack your full time job in for it, you'll need to work along side someone while they teach you all the techniques and you'll get crappy pay until you start painting and stop being a prep hand. Its one of those jobs where hands on experience counts.

just like unity said the college would be your best bet or a body shop either way it will take some time

If you want to learn right I would say college or maybe somewhere where there is an apprentiship program. Where they pay you like nothing but you learn the experience.

you can learn here at ROP. like two or three courses through out the year. that is offered by the state of california and varies by county. high school kids get free crack at the courses. i know a sherman williams here that teaches how to paint. i know of a good painter around here that learned through them. you can also search on layit low. ask questions and practice on metal or beat up car. the main thing is to learn to do the body work or have someone do it for you. most people will tell you it's mostly in the prep work.
