Unhappy How much heat

can chrome withstand before it starts to peel or flake??? There were several cars with heat shields chromed and some were peeling and some werent??? any ideas???

It was from cars at NOPI but it was weird cause some look like they were driven more than others and some were peeling and flaking and some werent...Just wondering if there is like a degree you cant go above??

I would say that goes back to how good the chrome plating is. Look at motorcycles, the exhaust just discolors, but doesnt peel. I would not recommend using the platers them guys did.

Dirt, grease or even air under the chrome plate tends to expand and split the chrome to allow more air in which causes the chrome to split the heat is only the catalyst. If the plate is done well and not to thin you'll be ok, go for triple plate, they get three attempts at getting a good layer then ?!
