I cant help thinking that when the phrase 'In for life' was used regarding CLUB membership it was actually meant as a 'good will gesture' and not a 'threat', if someone told me i was 'in for life' i would take it that i was a club member for as long as i desired with no pressure to 'prove' myself - like a lifetime membership ? Anyone else reckon that the phrase has been misunderstood at some point and taken the wrong way ? i reckon that could've happend really easily with the amount of Social pressures going on in the 80's and before, and as time went on and attitudes changed and people tried to be more 'gangster'(early 90's) and more materialistic or whatever they moulded this negative attitude to the phrase and its stuck ? Just imagine, if for all this time, because of a mis-interpretation all these people had been wrong ? ![]()

"In For Life" What this means to those of us that understand "Por Vida" (for life). "Back in the days" when you joined a car club you had to be willing to die for your car club because of the clubs that were at war with one and other. From the 1960's thru the mid to late 1980's alot of car clubs from East LA and the surrounding communities were like gangs with nice rides. The gang mentallity is part of our past. Today, When you go to a car show and see The oldest car club and their members shaking hands, hugging one and other and talking and just having fun together and in ways we never used to before this boycott of 2002. Remember, Its about Family, friends and a positive lowriding community. This will never change because the oldest lowriding car clubs are countinuing to advance in a positive light. You have a choose join a car club for a while or you you make the big decision "Por Vida" (for life). I am a lifer.

i can see what eseloco is saying, from a time when gangs were rife and at their worst, right ? but history is exactly that, its been and gone now and things are, as he says, moving forward in the right direction, shame the clubs appear to be dragging along some of the more 'foolish' rules ? IMO. As time passes i guess things will change, the rate of change is governed only by open-mindedness (is that a real word ?) I think life would be easier for you guys and real progression would be made if the clubs looked at ALL the lowriders as 'family' rather than just their 1 club which, in the whole scheme of things, is ony a tiny part of a world wide community like it or not. ![]()

Greed did it. People wanting all the limelight. Those same people brainwashing those who are followers. I believe the truth will one day come out and we can put all this bullshit aside.
