try and look for a weld class at your local adult education center they offer them. always good to have a teacher to point you in the right direction.

good luck on your project!</strong><hr></blockquote>

yes, that is also a great idea.

a class at a community college should only cost you like 30 to 50 bucks and you can get a chance to learn from a professional

There is way to weld with a torch, its not for heavy jobs. When I got my torch it came with a brazing tip, wich is used for welding......so I've been told

you can braze with a torch, but you're not gonna weld much with it. Exhaust pipe, and small things of that nature, but nothing like a cylinder mount, or frame plate.

Brazing is the joining of two materials by means of another which has a melting point lower than that of either of the two parent metals. There
are three types of brazing:
•Soldering, where the melting temperature is less than 450°C.
•Low Temperature Brazing, where the temperature of melting is between 450°C and 1000°C.
•High Temperature Brazing, where the melting temperature is greater than 1000°C

The accepted method of introducing the molten filler material is to apply the brazing alloy to the outer surface of the joint and to allow it to flow in and through the joint. There are three mechanisms that promote the flow of the brazing alloy - capillary attraction, temperature gradient and gravity.

A major difference between welding and brazing is the way joints are made.
welded on left, brazed on right

and yes i did cut and paste all this, although i knew what it meant i couldn't be arsed to type it all out !
