what year and make was it that he could take the arms of and use them on his car? or i am sure you can get a set of extended g-body arms on ebay or any hydro shop.
You are exactly right I completely forgot about the shims. Its the 80's style caprice models 85-90 im sure. If you go to a junk yard they will know what years and the other body styles they can pull them from. But if you plan on doing a frame reinforcement extending arms is a piece of cake.

Re: pros and cons

Yeah my car looked like that "JUICED REGAL" up there but came out pretty straight once I pulled the shims.

here's a question for you. when i lay my car down the tires barely clear the fender so i was thinking that if i extended the arms they will for sure not clear, but they clear on all the other g-body's that have the extensions and hop. how the hell is that? i just dont get it. look at the regal when it is slammed and you can see how thight the wheel is tucked. now how will it fit if you brought the arm out an inch?

Hoppers never wont there car to lay in the front just the ass. If you car is hopping and it tucks like that you better be handy on the switch or you will bottom out and that will crack you front crossmember. Hoppers want a lot of coil exxxtended arms and most people use caprice spindles to add more coil. There is alot that goes into it and alot more than I listed.

Yeah they do. When i drop it it lays on the cross member and when its lifted the upper arm is stopped by the frame I do still have the stock upper bumb stops on because i dont want to hear the "clank".

Do you hydro guys take off the bump stop resting area from the frame too? i never really looked into it because i didnt like the noise and like to roll locked in the front and dropped in the rear.
