Correct me if im wrong here but to hop on hydro dont you have to have a big spring that limits how low you can set your car? Most I have seen dont even lay low when dropped. With by bags I lay on the crossmember and thats what i like.
that is very true, but there is a thin line on what stacks to run. I dont like to lay frame so i can drive home if anything goes wrong. If you get to high on your hopp you will bottom out. 3 tons w/ 5 1/2 turns broken in with deep cups and you will be fine and lay nice also. You extend your uppers to take the stress off your balljoints and so your tires dont camber in when you have it locked up. It also saves your tires if you like to ride locked out sometimes.

Does anyone think that I should still wrap the a-arms?
your arms are going to be fine for a street car just make sure the top is extended

Thanks all, i'm really learning alot. When you say the arms are fine for street car but extend the top. What do you mean by that? I never had hydraulics before and this will be my first install so i'm wondering what the difference is if I extend the top or not since the car will not be hopping (for now).

extend- arm can be 1/2 to 3 in longer with just one cut and a piece of metal for the reasons I listed above.

extended and reinforced- same as above and it is wrapped all the way around with 3/16 and most of the time molded for a cleaner look. Also the lower a-arm is reinforced with a plate of 3/16 on the bottom.

Re: pros and cons

reinforced aka stress points-just certain areas of the frame is reinforced that are known for failing

partial wrap- 3 or less sides of the fram is wrapped can be done just by lifting the body a couple of inches

full frame wrap- Everything is done with the body and engine off

thanks for the infos. What will happen if I don't extend the arms and just leave the stock arms?

Re: pros and cons

try with out and see what you think. on my cutty i just took out the shims and its pretty straight lifted or dropped. with the shims in it would camber in pretty bad.

what year and make was it that he could take the arms of and use them on his car? or i am sure you can get a set of extended g-body arms on ebay or any hydro shop.
