Here is a question I've been trying to find out for years. I've researched it but haven't found the answer exactly and have found different answers. Why is the 1964 chevrolet such a sought after lowrider? It seems to be the one that is talked about most in rap songs and shows up in music vids and movies quite a bit. Yes I now that there are alot of others too. Like g-bodies, and other impala years, like 61, 62, 59, and so on. But why is the 64 the big deal? or is it just me that sees that? I've heard that Impalas back int he day were kind of a luxury car and in Hispanic neighborhoods that is the family had an impala back in the day it was passed on to the kids to drive and since money was tight they customized wha they had it it ended up being the family car. My dad said that they were cool cars he had a very rare 61 Impala SS. but in the sixties young guys wanted fast cars like Chevelles, Malibus, GTO, and 442, and the older impalas were slower and heavier. Hmmmm i don't know but Why the 64 imparticular is knows as the gangster ride? I've heard that several times. Can you guys help me out on this history lesson?

I can’t tell you why the 64 but the Impala must have been popular maybe because it was a luxury car at an affordable price unlike Cadillac or Lincoln my family has owned three different year of impala my Father had a 59 Impala that he said was fast at that time my Grandmother on my mother’s side of the family had the 63 Impala that is now mine she bought it new in 1964 and passed down to me my Mother had a 68 Impala that was primer grey she called “The Grey Ghost” why today the most popular Lowrider is the 64 I have no idea but since I seen my first Lowrider in a Snoop Dogg video I said “I want one” so there was no doubt what I was going to do to my 63
