Well i think my carb is fixing to take another shit on me. I got in it this morning and the check engine light was on .I pulled the codes up and it was the throttle position sensor and the idle speed sensor . I played around with it and got it running pretty good ,but know it not idling that good ,kinda of a up and down idle now. Is there anyway to take off all the emmision stuff and run a regular carb on it ?

yeah Billy,,,thats the best thing u could do for your motor,,,,it will wakin it up alot,,,be alot faster and stuff,,,,,,plus it will be lighter
cuz u get to take out all of that b.s that u dont need,,,,just remember if u still want good gas milage,,,dont get a 750 carb..get like a 600-650....still fast and gas economical |

Carb
Make sure the people you get the carb from really understand what you want. Some require throttle linkage kits.
I also agree with homie on the edelbrock. Extremely nice. Buy a 650 cfm, and the jet kit. After you buy and install an edelbrock the kit allows to change the jets and metering rods for better performance or better gas milage. BUT remember altitude and climate are exteremly important in adjusting a carb properly. GOOD NEWS Edlebrock has a tech line you can call and give them all the info and they will tell what color spring(there springs are color coded) what size jet and what size metering rod to use. And quess what? Edelbrock made it so easy to change all you do is take the air cleaner off, four torque screws and your there, replace done... I really like thier carbs and easy to work on if your into fine tuning. |

Well guys due to being low on money right know ,I am going to have to wait till after Christmas to get a new intake and carb.
But I got bored this morning and decided to rebuild my old one .It is runnig really good now . Even got the choke adjusted right on it ,never has been . I have just one question . When it is decelerating, only after i stomp the gas and get in to, it backfires out the tailpipe .I kind of like it like that,I guess a kinda of a redneck thing. But is it good for the engine for it to be like this ? I know it is not good for the muffler , I have split a couple in the past playing around, making it backfire . ![]() |
