Post Extend My Help...

Q-VO I just wanted to extend a hand out there to those who wrench on thier low rider engines.
As we get our name name out and hit the shows, we may tend to spend time on the shine of the paint, make sure all switches, pumps, dumps, batteries and stereo sytems are working fine BUT what about that oil leak in the engine, or the moment you go to move your ride at the show after it has been sitting all day and your car's automatic choke don't work leaving you turning your ignition key over and over again only to blow out a cloud of smoke... Not to cool huh?

Well I'm NOT saying that we UNITEDRIDAZ are all that, NO quite the contrary, I'm offering help and If I don't know I'll sure do my best to find out you're answer.

Lets all take a little extra effort on those PREVENTIVE items on our rides engines.

Example; Did you know that the PCV valve ( possitive crank case venilation) is under $5.00 and a bad one WILL cause engine oil blow back. Some times the oil mess of leaks (especially GM) in your engine is because this little valve is clogged. HUMMMM.

All you UNITEDRIDAZ rollin down the street in a GM, let me help ya fine tune your ride, and anyone else for that matter.

I look forward to being a helping hand on the UNITEDRIDAZ WEB SITE.

REPRESENTING IN ALASKA
Marco

I got a question for you . I have been trough 3 reman carbs on my 84 cutlass ,i finally got one that works right . THe only problem i have with it now is that if i let it sit like overnight and crank it up in the morning it idles real high . Usually it will idle down after it warms up and i give it a little gas ,but sometimes i have to get out and manually open the choke on it . I know most of them do this , it evens says it in the owners manual ,but like i said sometimes it want idle down .What would could cause this to happen .

One more question where is the pvc valve on this car . All of the ones i have seen or on the valve cover ,but it is not there . Not even a gromet for it to go in .Do some come without them ? by the way it is a 231 V6 . Thanks

Cool Olds & rebuilts???

Sounds to my brother like you finally after three tries got a good rebuilt carb??

Well lets get work. On your questions. A normal operating automatic choke is designed to tell the carb when the motor is cold or hot. When its cold it sounds like your choke is doing what it is should be doing, then as the motor or water temp. in the block rises your choke has a linkage that is t incrimentally knock down th RPM's, That is not happening with yours.
You have installed this carb yourself?????
If so please get back to ASAP.
It appears you may one or several TINY issues.
I need to how carberator literate you are and if so we can tackle this together, However if you recently paid a mechanic to install it they need to make it right.

On your PCV issue in 79 Olds(GM) did a lot of changes and I'll look into where yours is.

Post Olds Carb.

Can you see if the choke linkage is working properly?
It will be oppisite the gas throtle linkage side.
Take off the air cleaner to do this.
You are going to play with the linkage to see if it ingages or not.
It is possible you may find it disconneted, or hung up.
Get back to me after that.
This is a NO COST process first to eliminate factors.
