i know i haven`t posted at all on this forum or layitlow but i decided to ask this since i can`t find the answer anywhere else.
My dad has a 88 lincoln contental with a stock air bag suspension (not the kind you can control) and since we had it the back air bags deflate when the car is off and the front bags seem to inflate. After the car is started is feels liek theres no suspension in teh back but the back bags inflate and the car evens out after maybe 2-5 min and everything is fine. Yesterday my dad was replacing the powersteering pump and the front right bag poped. A guy he knows is offering to fix it for 400 (the busted bag only i think) i wana know if thats an ok price, how easy is it to replace a bag and if i could buy one from liek show time for it....also what could be causing the back to deflate? Thanks |

smear some washing up liquid around all the fittings and start the car up, then check for 'bubbles' as this will be where the leak is (if there is one)
Should all the bags deflate when the engine is turned off ? if so check for a siezed valve to the front or a blockage, as the air is getting in but sounds like its not being released which will put more and more pressure on the bags until something gives (or the bag pops !). Disconnect the lines from the bags and start the car up so the compressor blows any crap out of the lines ![]() |
