Well, like Webster says, it's a protective coating. But for aluminum.
Anodizing does for aluminum what chrome does for steel, except for looking shiny. Raw steel and raw aluminum both corrode. To make aluminum shine like chrome, you have to remove the protective layer and polish it with successively finer grits. And polish it again on a regular basis. And again. And again...... |
