i have a tan 82 cutlass and am planning on getting a flake job next summer,it has a tan vinyl top and am having trouble deciding on what color would go best with the color of the top,wanting a green but not sure if that would look right..?? i was also quoted a price of $1,000 to fix the ding in the driver side door and rear panel and that includes all prep work and paintjob,only i would have to supply the paint kit? does that seem a fair price?thanks,kevin.

a thousand bucks is a good deal if it's a good painter. Be sure to get some one that knows his paint. Flake can be tricky to flow. It has a tendancy to pull the flake together like a magnetic pull or something if not flowed right. It happened to the top of my car and tiger striped real bad. The flake just started moving together even though it was sprayed even. I repainted it and it looks fine now, but it's something to watch for. Green would look good, my first impression that I would say would maybe be gold. but green maybe a dark one could pop too. just my 2 cents

thanks,the guys a pretty decent painter,ive seen his work,he paints his own cars and trucks,i was sort of leaning toward a metal flake green,what name of green should i search for,i think the 1k is within my budget,have a 5 year old and another due in december,and its for my daily so ill be happy with less than show quality paint for 1 grand..
