Post sheet metal replacing...

I wanna know what you guys experienced whit sheet metal replacing on your rides?

specialy quarter panels cutting and replacing...

-the how to
-the do and donts
-experiences

Cut out old rusted sheet metal.

tack weld in new sheet metal.

Fill with body filler.

Thats how I have done it anyways...

main thing to keep in mind is to take good measurements cause you rather take off enough than to take to much. and also make sure you get all the rust of because if you dont it will come back.

So what do you recommend to use to tack weld it in?

ok after you have cut the bad area, test fit new piece and make any necessary adjustments. when you are ready weld the new metal, using clamps and vise-grips hold the new piece where it needs to fit, remember to tack weld around the piece in a random places so the new metal doesnt get to hot and warp. once the piece its there you want to basically fill in the blanks between your tack welds with more tack welds only tack weld very important. continue this procedure until all tack welds are connecting to one another grind smooth and apply a coat of fiberglass kitty hair and then follow with bondo to smooth out, primer and you are ready for paint.
