Post Paint Question

I was thinking about painting my own car, but first I'm gonna practice on an old car. But after I put the paint on, how long do I wait until I put that clear coat? Ansd I might put flakes in it, so what kind of sandpaper would i use to smooth out the flakes and after that would I have to put another coat? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Wll after you paint the car will need to be wet sanded before the clearcoat. If you flake plan on using alot of clear to smooth tha shit out and dont wet sand the flake to much or they will loose the sparkle.
