Question Convertible Gbody

What's Up Fellas, I Need Help On What To Reinforce On The Body On A Regal When I Cut The Top Off So I Wont Get Door Gaps Or Any Other Kind Of Stress. I Want To Hopp And Three Wheel. To Start Off I Already Have A Wrapped Frame, Just Need To Know What To Do On The Body? What Year And Model Car Should I Get The Electric Rag Top From? All Kinds Of Help Would Be Great.

There's more to producing a convertible than chopping the roof off. The steel roof forms a vital part of a car's structure, giving it strength and rigidity, and that strength has to be replaced somehow once the roof is removed! Your going to have to add metal to reinforce the rear to keep it from buckling...specially if your going to juice it, the weight is just to much...and this is coming from experience on a Cougar we did...

Instead of chopping the top have you thought about a phantom top?

Re: Convertible Gbody

Even after doing all you can do to make it stronger something is going to happen to it from the hopping and 3.....Just be prepared that the car will never be the same again.....

Re: Convertible Gbody

You may want to weld the doors shut....inner and outer welds..

Re: Convertible Gbody

thanks for all your info. I just might weld all the doors shut and weld the trunk and hood.

Re: Convertible Gbody

if you weld the hood and trunk shut, how will you get to the engine and the hydralic systems? you could be kool and have the whole body lift off the frame with extra hydralic devices to show in the trunk and under hood....that would be very different...L8rZ

Re: Convertible Gbody

Dude I was joking about welding everything. I just said I would weld everything because "DRLOWS" gave me that idea. But your idea sounds very good I like it.
