frame wrap

what's a frame wrap? and can someone show me an example of what it looks like. I always see people saying "you need a welder to do this and that". I am a welder and would like to see before and after pics of how it's done.

Thanks for time and patience.

I will be asking more questions so please have patience

a frame wrap is a lazy way of reinforcing a frame, to reinforce a frame properly you need to make the frame stronger in the correct places without transferring the stress onto other weaker areas.

To wrap a frame is just that, cover as much of, if not all of a frame, with sheet steel which will make it stronger intially but not as effectively.

Some people refer to 'stress points' which are proven weak spots on a frame that need to be reinforced to prevent damage /twisting.

boxing a frame is to fill in the open part of the 'c' channel with suitable plate.

Some people get really anal about frames and what you're 'supposed' to do but in reality each frame is different in quality/age/condition and needs to be treated appropriatley, of course it also depends on what you want to do with the car when your done.

hope this helps.
