Re: Red's Hydraulics?

id suggest not counting on reds unless they have been ported and drilled for marzzochi heads.of course ive had a reds styling setup on the 84 maxima ,yes i said maxima(pics to come)it has been the best setup for reliability ive ever had,but it has fenner heads and only 2-3 batt banks runnin 36volts.but if you want some great response go with pro hopper or cce,i know its a cleche' but ive never had a problem from my fatboys except broken pump gears from the 84 volts im pushing-even black magic makes pretty good stuff .also showtime has superb cylinders i run 10 inch torpedos in the front of my grand prix.but if you run the reds id get a 12 inch set of cylinders for the front and cut the rods down 2-3 inches and you will get insane response(it makes them 10s)but fluid stays in the top .trust me it makes a big diff, its like adding an extra battery to your bank.thats was our little trich back in the day to add a few inches to the hop.........holla

Honestly not to say it cant be done but 12's in the the front is just ridiculous. Best to do 8's with the 6 shaft and use straight fittings for flow. Honestly its not worth the effort I found out it didn't work for shit. But hey if you guys wanna try it go ahead most people will tell you it doesn't do shit. Most of the cylinders now are machined with a gap in them so their is already fluid sitting around the whole piston doesn't matter if its 1/2 inch or 3 inch Hydro pressure is undiminished in all directions.

Re: Red's Hydraulics?

it was just a suggestion but it added 2 inches to my hop,but my frame has had the ears chopped off plated with half inch over the barrel and the inside of the barrel has a piece of half inch steel water pipe welded to the top and bottom of the frame(on the inside)to keep the 3 ton coils in place.and the upper control arms are chained to the lower a arms, but i love to weld and if you got the time it adds a few inches with the cut 12s 10s work better but i run#8 hose with all half inch fittings and my dumps are blocked off and bypassed.but then again i run torpedos from showtime with 3/4 top ports.i see what your saying though but ,back in the day 12 or so years ago there were no real custom cylinders,ya had to port em yourself, but if you run bigger than 3/8 all the way from the pump it does work well ,if your that anal like i am lol.

plate the frame and chain and plate the lower arm add some square tubing and chain it of shorter than what the vehicle locks out at. You will see a dramatic difference.
