Hey all, im kinda new to all this and i wanted to get a very basic setup for my 81 cutty. If all i want to do is side to side front to back, do i need to reinforce the frame? Do i need to reinforce if i wana hop a bit too? How much would that kind of reinforcing be, cause i dont have the time to do it myself. What kind of work is involved when installin a basic setup, because i live on Vancouver Island there arent any shops that do this kinda work. How much would a setup run me if i just wanted to do the things i listed above? And how many batteries would i have to buy? Is there any cutting of the frame when installing hydros? Thanks in advance.

with the so called basic kit, you will still need batteries, and some basic kits dont come sith solenoids.also, basic kits dont usually come with a pump or battery rack. Those need to be welded to the frame through the trunk floor.
Yes you will have to cut your frame to do even a basic install. The area where the shocks are located in the front has to be cut out to allow the cylinder to go through. in the back..... it has to be cut through the trunk floor, not the frame. if you take the rear spring out. you will see where it needs to go, the spring cup at the top, is were you cut the hole in the trunk floor to go through. right in the center of that opening up there...... And yes you should spend a lil extra time and money to get a bridge put in the rear....... reinforce the rear humps 9where the frame goes up over the axle... And atleast do the front cross member..... doing this now will save time/ money and trouble in the future......... a broken frame is pretty much junkyard material. So do it right the first time, so you dont have to do it a second time........ |
