Lightbulb Voltage??

I have heard of people running 8,9 batteries even 10 to a single pump. How would you do this without burning anything up? Is there a trick to it or is it just B/S? How many solenoids would you even run?

its all in wiring i would imagine.... i dont see a 12 volt motor handling what 120 volts... more than a few clicks... but then again there is work u can do to the motor to make it handle more voltage and amperage...amps is what actually burns shit up if im to understand things right.

u could probably get away with 2 of the big noides on something like that

hydro motors arent 12v handling though are they, its only the solenoid stamped with 12v the motors are good for 96v on average, you can wire up 6 batts for 96v and then put another bank of 6 batts at 96v in parallel to the first giving you two lots of 96v, not 192v buit 96v for twice the amount of time.

Actually 6 batteries total 72 volts. I have always ran 72 volts without any problems but I want to step up the voltage now. And the motors used for hydraulics are 12v also.

you don't want to the batteries in parrellel because if you have one lower than the others it will draw the two banks down. keep them seperate.
it will work alot better.i would stop at 7 batteries because any more and a couple clicks and the motor is toast.

well this all depends on what type of motors you are running i got a 1980 caddy fleetwood 4 pumps 3 dumps 4 switchez i running street chrome motors and they easily handle 6 batts. right now im running 7 batteries in each front gate for a total of 14 batteries to the front if you are runing like a prestolite plus you can run max. 6 batt. heavy duty motors on the other hand SUCK and u can only run max 5 batt.
and remeber 2 noids per battery or 1 prestolite block for 6 batteries 2 blocks for 8 batt. any other questions just ask i sure i can answer just about all yoour hydro questions!!!!!!!!!!

whats the deal with prestolite blocks, have you ever opened one up to see inside ?, just three tiny $6 crappy soleniods in series using buss bars ! i'd rather buy some proper higher rated solenoids than waste my money on these blocks

Thumbs up

if yoou try the prestolite block you will find that they look like three crappy $6 noids but if fact are designed to work with your hydro setup they are a continous duty noid as to the $6 noids are not they are meant to be activated a few time every so often witch will work find if you aint tryin to hop but if you try the prestolite blocks
remeber to weld 1/4inch bolts so you can bolt them down for a good ground
