Post leaks

my pumps are leaking where the fittings go into the block. i had teflon on it but that didn't work,so i then got some pipe dope and put that on there that also leaked do i need to drain the pump completely before i try again?

yeah. well pull out all the fittings, and clean them, make sure there is no leftover tape or dope on the new threads. then re teflon them.
Also, only tighten, never loosen to make it sit right....... so as you are tightening, if you dont feel you can get it all the way around again. Stop there...
Also if you have over tightened, you can actually warp the ports, which will cause them to leak at all times.

Not to take this topic to the left but, were in your set-up should you not teflon your fittings. I thot I saw an earlier post that mentioned you should not tape certain fittings in your plumbing.?? Was that just on the fittings on the strokes?

i never teflon my hose fittings, or aby with the tapered end really.

tapered fiting need teflon
paralell fittings need seal washers
jic/bsp hose fittings need nothing

i never teflon my hose fittings, cause i usually have then on and off too much, it doesnt really leak, atleast i havent noticed any before.
