283 Engine problems

Ok guys I really need help here... Car starts and idles just great....no problems... Put it into gear and nothing...no power and the car dies...

check to see if the transmission isn't jammed up. also check neutral safety switch on column. it could be just barely in between neutral and go.

if the gears arent lined up perfectly on the shifter arms when u throw it in gear it will between gears and cause power loss and eventually kill the car. it happened to me on my 64 bel. also check to see if the main harness on the fire wall is not shorting out wiggle it around to get a better connection because if it wiggles loose when in gear it will kill power and kill car while driving. happened to me many times in the 64.
