I have a 72 Impala and having ignition problems. The car won't start with the key, but the only way to start it is directly through the starter. Then if i want to turn it off i do it through the key and it shut off. Any suggestion out there

I changed the key ignition part with the key and nothing man..

I stick a flat screw driver mess with the starter solenoid and its starts cranking till it starts,but i have to have the ignition key on the ON position. It maybe sounds retarted but it starts but i don't know what may be the problem

So it goes from the ignition to a solenoid and then to the starter?

There is a fusible link between the switch and the starter its probably bad.
