Ball joint help/advice

OK, so I just about have my 72 Cadillac Eldorado bagged (should be done this weekend). I know I want to replace my ball joints becasue the old ones are looking pretty rough.
I have been reading a lot about which ball joints are best, but I want to get everyone's opinion here.
I don't ever plan on hopping the car, but the way I have the setup the bag is between the upper A-arm and the frame. So the weight of the car is now on the upper ball joint where it used to be on the lower ball joint.
Is the NAPA "unbreakable" ball joint the way to go? Does anyone know the P/N for a 72 eldo?
All help appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "unbreakable" ball joint. the best suspension parts are made by moog. Any time you modify a suspension to adjust from one extreme to the other (all the way down to all the way up) you are putting tress on it that the car was not designed for. I replace my ball joints once a year at least. I when with a life time guaranteed ball joint, they are a cheaper quality but I have got two free sets out of the guarantee. Moog ball joints will last longer but are twice as much. Don't be fooled by "unbreakable" ball joint, either get the best or get a life time guaranteed ball joint and take them back every time they get bad

I see. Forgive my rookieness, but how exactly do you know when the ball joints "get bad". Also, what on your ball joints breaks? Is it the ball coming out of the collar? Are you hopping yours?

A ball joint is like your arm and shoulder, there is a pocket and a ball. The pocket mounts to the A-arm and the ball to the spindle, this allows the ball to move in all directions in the pocket. When a ball joint brakes the ball comes out of the pocket separating the A-arm from the spindle. When you get a new ball joint it is verry hard to move the ball around by hand, a bad ball joint you and move the ball very easily or move the ball just by shacking it around, you can also tell if it is bad by grabing the ball push and pull on it, if it move back and forth or if there is a clicking sound it's bad.
