How do I plumb 2 scuba tanks for nitrogen
I got to used scuba tanks form a friend and want to use them for my air ride system. I am wondering what type of regulator would I use. I am running 1/2 inch line into a 5 gal tank. Has anyone done this before or know how to plumb this up safely? More detail is better than general ideas..
Thanks Last edited by blown64; 03-24-2008 at 02:28 PM. |

not a good idea bub,at least not if i were you.unless they are rated for at least 300 psi.but if your running individuals you might have a problem with not having enough ports for all your valves.but anything can be done if you want it bad enough you may have to run some tees if they are single port.hell i shoved a 3.8 in a cavalier so id say if you got big cohones go for it.................call coolcars too they have a great tech guy if you can catch him there........................

The tanks are rated at 2500 psi,so thats not a problem. Its more a plumbing issue. The scuba regulator is 3/8 output and has an output 145 psi.
Each tank has about 50 cubic feet of presure if I use oxygen. Last edited by blown64; 03-20-2008 at 08:52 PM. |

Re: How do I plumb 2 scuba tanks for nitrogen
Whats the cost of oxygen? Also I would look at trying to fing a regulator that will push more than 145 psi. I think you said you have RE bags so their rated at 200 PSI and i would run them on the daily at 225-250 and maybe 300-325 for play time. But again I'm speed happy and wouldnt put in a bag that was only rated at 200. I only roll HE's. I dont use the XS's because i would only run about 550PSI max and any more than that and the tanks go WAY to fast.
Personaly, to me you have allot of money in your car and shouild do it right with a notrogen bottle and regulator. Putting in two scuba tanks because you got them for free will bring down the appearance of the set up. One nitrogen tank will give you 150 cu.ft of 2500psi and you can even go bigger. Slam runs a 300 cu.ft, I wish i could but it wont fit in my trunk. |

Re: How do I plumb 2 scuba tanks for nitrogen
I can get free air from the local fire dept, also my 4 port air tank is only rated at 150 psi ,I am moving my front valves to the front to get a faster response. I placed the tanks in my truck to see what the layout will look like. With the fuel cell its a close fit. I may have to upgrade some parts . I will try this out and see whats its like and go from there.I still need to paint the car, repair the top and redo the interior. With the 2 tanks I will have about 3200 psi and less than $100.00 for the upgrade.

Free air.... wish i had that! The tank is rated at 150 but most air parts have a 4:1 burst rate so you could put upto 600 psi and then be pushing it. personaly i have ran about 550 for just a few hits and all the lines and fittings held just fine. when you get it all in there you will be able to see what you want to run at. start going over 350 and your air goes quick. Unless your gonna stay with the regulator you have and go at 145.
If you need anything just post up and we'll help you figure it out. |

![]() you can kind of see it on the dump valve, you can see another one holding the airline just above the middle of the tank |
