Re: how do i know what air ride system i have?
so i just received a firestone 9000 bag from fmkustoms and i looked at the bag thats on there now and it doesnt say anything on the top of the bag so i just ordered the firestone 9000 hoping it would work if not ill see if i can trade in for a different one
what im wondering is, what will happen if it IS the wrong bag but it fits in? cuz they all have the same mounting basically and the same fitting just different sizes right? if this bag DOES fit but still isnt the RIGHT one whats the worst that could happen? im only running like 140 psi so i dont think i should be too worried about popping the bag...what about the lift? will it maybe lift more than my other bags? and is there anything REALLY bad about that? or whats the deal>? |

Just pull the bag! It's not doing you any good being on there. you will still be able to lift the one side and move the truck. Why wont the 9000 work? whats the mounting difference? What the top of the busted bag look like?

Does that bag mount to your leaf spring? Is the leaf spring complete, meaning does it attach before and after the wheel to the frame? Cant tell if that spring stops where it meets the lowering block or continues back to the frame.
The 3 or 4 link you would have either 3 or 4 bars attached to the rearend to keep it center. If you have a 3 or 4 link suspension you could put your bags right over the rearend and get rid of the leaf springs. If you could post a pic of the setup on one side (rear) would be great. I'm not a truck person but always thought you had to do away with the leaf springs to do the bags. meaning you wouls have to install a 3 or 4 link. or just a straight pic looking at the brake drum |

mean almost like a drag suspension? no its full leaf that spring goes all the way back up to the frame like a normal leaf

Cool so you dont have to go with a three or four link. I was wrong about that then, good to know. May be qiucker or get more travel if you had one though.
my car has a fourlink so if i blow a rear bag theres nothing at all holding up that corner. the other side will lift the whole rear but its all lop sided. |
