Air Ride Setup 4 a 77 Coupe DeVille
Ok Iam a noob to the lowriding deal and I just bought a 77Coupe DeVille and the guy just cut the springs I want to do a air ride setup but it needs to have the lift to clear 24" rims with a 255/30/24 tire size so im thinking teliscopic cylinders in the rear(if possible to do like a 30-36"lift and some high end bags up front(18-20"lift) i would like to 3-wheel(with a custom tubed trunk to clear the tall wheels) and do about a 10" front hop so it needs to be fast and run about 550-600psi if possible what would you guys recamend for this thanks for anyhelp peace

I don't think they make telescopic air cylinders... I might be wrong though... they do make air cycinders that lock up as high as you hope... also, for it to lock up that high you might just want to relocate the bags and use a cantilever set up... as for the rear, you need a triangulated 4 link, and if you wnat to 3wheel, then you need a chain bridge...

You might as well go with hydro for what your looking do to. To get that high in the rear with air..... i'm not positive but i dont think so. three wheel hit cost allot of money. And to hop the caddy 10'' you can do that! Is there a reason you wanted to go with air?
OH, and you wont get 18-20'' of lift from a bag |

The reason not hydros weight i want to run low 13 second 1/4 and rough ride i guess the 3-wheel isnt a must and the hop with the big rims i just want to be diff. so i would run bags all the way around if i can get the lift i need what bags could get me that the hop is a must though

Well plan on running nitrogen because the air compressors I have seen only go up to 200 PSI, and from what I have noticed that there isn’t much difference from 300 to 400 PSI….. what I mean is you can’t tell by the naked eye if the car will hop higher at 400 then at 300 with a single fill valve and ½ line. You can do a rolling 3-wheel on bags I have done it, and my car will hop, but to get 10” hop you will need to run at least ¾ all the way around with dual port bags with two fill valve to the front. And tucking 20” you might need to cut the wheel wells at all four corners and for the back you might need to redo the rear end in a four links or watts link don’t do a three link they are shit. They make insane lift bag that will get you close to 20” of lift and you can raise the bottom bracket up to give you more lift in the back I have done that to my car, but keep in mind that the higher you raise the bracket the car wont sit as low. If your trying to keep your car light and fast then you kind of have a catch 22 because being fast in the ¼ has a very lot to do with suspension if you have the power but can’t put it down or hook up then the tire just spin and you’re not moving forward, and buy changing the read end suspension to get the lift you want you might get wheel hop in the back not letting you hook up. So really it is kind of one or the other some thing will have to give, if you want a high lift and don’t care about being fast then your good, or if you want to be fast and don’t care about hopping high or a high lift then your good, but if you want both then you will run into issues down the road that can get frustrating and expensive.

Yo 77
If you want your bag to hit that hard it is the same as hydros and will tear up your car just as fast you will need to reinforce the frame as well believe me I know first hand just ask 1lowcut his air setup is hitting just as or if not harder then mine he can tell you how hard it is on his cutty and my impala |

If you want to be a fast air bagged car you need to keep a pretty stock setup. four way control and get slowdown valves on it so you can tune it at the track other wise your car will drop and lift way to fast to get it to the right height.
Here is a link to my buddy's car. Its fast and on bags but no way will it hop. You may consider selling the caddy and buying this. 66 Impala - Complete |

The problem he will have is when he launches at the starting line is that the bag will be too spongy allowing for too much power lose from the motor to the drive wheels, and will also have too much body roll. You have seen my car when I’m at ride height sitting at a light and I rev the motor you can see how much the motor rocks the car.
