Re: Panhard bar on air setups

You can get rid of the panhard bar by running 2 upper links off the frame rails to the rearend. just make sure they are at a 15 to 20 degree angle to give the rear left to right ridgidness

I was thinking of that, I have a complete rolling chasse and I was going to take the stock upper off the other chasse and put a duel stock upper trailing arm setup. I know Chevy had a stock duel upper trailing arm on the police and some of the SS models but they still ran a pan hard bar also. I just wonder if the duel upper if better the a wishbone or vice versa.

Re: Panhard bar on air setups

the wishbone on a car is a little bit more of a pain because your going to have to build a crossmember for it to mount to in front of the axle which means your going to have clearance issues with the floor unless its really short which means you will get alot of pinion change throughout the travel of the rearend not to mention with it being short it will pull the wheels forward at full extension....

Re: Panhard bar on air setups

I can mount this either way, the center mount of this setup slides back and forth in the front tube of the triangle, I think it will minimize or eliminate any pinion change, on the 61-64 Impala's X-frame has a cross member where the upper trailing arm mounts to. I was thinking that the base of the triangle will mount to the diff tubes on each side of the pumpkin and the point will mount to the cross member of the frame. Now this is just a thought and I won’t know if I will run into any clearing issues until I try it, I think it's a cool design and looking at the mechanics of it I can't see why it wouldn't work, but you never know until you try right.....
