i dunno.. im not sure cause ive never played with a vcr in an automotive audio system, but that sounds to me like you have a ground loop with the vcr? id check the ground first.. and if it isnt grounded to where the majority of the rest of your audio products is grounded it could cause a noise like you decribed,
