For your problem it sounds like either the auto choke is playing up, its a bi-metallic strip wound like a clock spring and it expands as it warms up, if its worn or dirty it will take ages to unwind (expand)
It may also be to do with the needle valve that balances ontop of the float, if its got stuck up in the recess instead of resting down on the float it will cause similar problems due to too much fuel flow
